ONE NIGHT is here!!!

I am so thrilled that ONE NIGHT is out in the world. This book is super special to me, and I can’t wait for you to meet Jess, Adam, Zoe, Regan, and Spock. While this book is New Adult Contemporary Romance, it is quite the ensemble cast. This is Jess and Adam’s story at the core, but I hope you fall for Zoe and Spock as much as I did while writing them because their story is next!

OneNight_revisedhairWhen she lost it all, Jess decided to cope by living a lie.

But you can’t keep on pretending forever…

Twenty-one-year-old Jess used to have everything—a loyal best friend, a boyfriend she loved, and a future that was right on track. But in a single night, her whole world changed.

Now, Jess lives for the impersonal connection of drunken hook-ups and to-go coffee cups in the morning. All she needs is one night to pretend everything is fine…until she meets Adam.

Thanks to a sports injury, gorgeous, charming basketball star Adam Carson is stuck in physical therapy at the hospital where Jess interns—giving her the perfect opportunity to see his sweet, considerate nature and making her realize that maybe she does want something more.

But while Adam might be the best thing that’s happened to Jess in a long time, letting him past her carefully constructed walls means letting him know what happened…and why he’d never want her for more than one night.

Includes a preview of the upcoming Only You novel, One Life.

ONE NIGHT deals with some heavy subject matter, but I promise you plenty of laughs and swoons to balance out the tough times. And for Jess, Adam, and anyone else who might be in the middle of one of life’s curve balls–I’ll cross my fingers that none of you give up on hope and that maybe my little book offers that to you.

WHAT IF Release/Giveaway!

So, here we are, eight months after IF ONLY, my debut novel, released in late March. This whole authoring thing still feels so new–not the writing part of it but the putting-the-book-out-there part of it, giving it to readers and letting go of ownership because that’s what this is all about. A book that for so long was just my little creation is now yours, and that’s pretty freaking amazing. I’m so grateful that I get to do what I do. And even though I’ve done this once before, it feels like the first time all over again–lots of feels.  So, in keeping with what I hope will become release day tradition, here are all those feels in the best way I know how to express them–through gifs.

I am beyond excited for WHAT IF to be out there. All I want to do is this.

WHAT IF has been getting so much love in early reviews, and I wish I could tackle hug you all to say thank you!

And then there are those of you who, like me, fell in love with Griffin in IF ONLY and have waited patiently for his story. This is the story of my heart, and it’s hard to articulate how happy I am to finally share it with you.

Am I scared? Holy hella yes. I made this thing, and now this thing is not just mine. It’s yours. So I might be a little…

But really, I can’t say thank you enough. All the fear, excitement, nervous and happy dancing–it’s all worth it because I get to share my words with you. Thank you for reading.

Let’s celebrate!

Sometimes it takes letting go of the past to find out who you want to be.

During his semester abroad, Griffin Reed almost gave his heart to a WhatIf_Cover_Finalgirl who loved someone else. Lesson learned. Now he’s home, where following in his father’s footsteps may not be what he wants, but it’s what his parents expect. It might be taking the easy road, but he doesn’t see a way out.

Something that could have killed Maggie Kendall took away the person she used to be instead. Her condition makes her dependent on sticky notes, photos, and medication just to get through each day. The last thing she needs is a distraction—or someone new to disappoint.

What they refuse to see is they are perfect for each other. Maggie makes Griffin want to be a better man, and he makes her believe a future is possible. But these two have to find a way to share the secrets ripping them apart, if they’re ever going to have a chance at happiness.

FINDING DANDELION by Lex Martin–Release Day and Giveaway!

Finding Dandelion Banner

I am so proud to celebrate the release of Lex Martin’s book. She is my amazing friend, my writing partner, my identical hand twin sister. And this book, guys. THIS BOOK! I loved book one in this great series of stand-alone romances, DEAREST CLEMENTINE, but I dare say DANDELION is even better.  You are going to love Jax and Dani’s story, but if you haven’t read CLEM yet, guess what? It’s free on Amazon until tomorrow! Okay, enough of me. Today is about Lex. Congratulations, sweetie! I’m so proud of you! <3

Finding Dandelion (Dearest #2)

Lex Martin

A New Adult Romance

When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.

But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate’s brother? That’s a shock.

Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.

Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.

Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

FINDING DANDELION, the second book in the Dearest series, is a stand-alone novel. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn’t mind being called bitchy and closed off. It’s safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.

Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out…in the name of research, of course.

As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.

DEAREST CLEMENTINE is a stand-alone novel with two companion novels. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

New Adult Contemporary Romance

We weren’t a relationship, we were a ticking time bomb…

Maggie Carpenter walked away from the hottest encounter of her life when she left the seductive glitz of England for summer break in her South Carolina hometown. Now that she’s returned to the International School in London—and sexy, privileged Samir Khouri is once again close enough to touch—she can’t help but remember the attraction, the drama … the heartbreak.

She can’t help but want him even more.

Samir can’t afford to fall for someone so far removed from his world, not when his time in London is running out. It’s his senior year—his last chance at freedom before he returns home to Lebanon. There, he’ll be expected to follow in his father’s footsteps—not follow his heart to Maggie. But when a scorching secret hookup becomes a temptation neither can resist, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences … and find a future together.

Don’t miss this explosive sequel to I See London, and the riveting conclusion to Maggie and Samir’s story. This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

My Writing Process Blog Tour

One thing I love about the writing community is…well…it’s a community. What I mean is, writing is an adventure, but it can be a lonely adventure at times, so I love when I get a chance to connect. That’s what the “My Writing Process Blog Tour” is all about–connecting with other writers and readers as well.

cinderellaFellow Entangled author, Shonna Slayton, tagged me to join the tour. Her YA debut, Cinderella’s Dressreleases with Entangled Teen on June 3rd! This one is so on my TBR list!

So, here’s how the tour works. I’ve got a few questions to answer for you, and then you’ll get to meet a few other authors who will join the tour next week!

1. What am I working on?
Now that I’m settling back into normalcy (sort of) after my debut novel, If Only, released on the 24th, I’m working on the sequel. That’s all I can really tell you because nothing is official yet with my publisher, but I think readers are going to be happy with who has a leading role in book two. 😉

2. How does my work differ from others in its genre?
If Only is NA contemporary romance. But I’m also a huge fan of YA, and I think my writing and reading interests are evident in this book. While NA does deal with characters a bit more mature and a bit more experienced than YA characters, my main character, Jordan, is only 20, and a pretty clueless 20 at that. She has a lot of growing up to do, and at times her maturity is not far from that of a YA heroine, which for me was intentional. I wanted my book to come off as a good example of bridging the gap from YA to NA, and thank the stars, that’s what a lot of readers have seen in it! If Only is a college study abroad setting (Scotland!), which I also think is newer in NA.

3. Why do I write what I do?
I tend to write what I love to read. My first novel is a YA dystopian novel. At the time I was kvelling over The Hunger Games and Divergent, and all I could think about was this version of a dystopia that wouldn’t leave my head, so I wrote it. It’s living safely and securely on my laptop for now until the world needs new dystopia again. Haha. And the same idea goes for NA. When I first read Losing It by Cora Carmack, I was floored by what fun was to be found in that flirty, awkward, angsty college experience. Then I remembered my own study abroad experience and wondered what it would have been like if an unrequited crush situation happened differently, and If Only was born. I love both YA and NA because they deal with such pivotal times in characters’ lives, and I love a good love story, so whatever I write, there WILL BE KISSING (at the very least).

4. How does my writing process work?
I am extremely linear and extremely co-dependent. What does this mean? The former means I have to draft a book in order, from chapter 1 to the end. I cannot fully flesh out a scene if the book isn’t ready for it yet, which is why I have notes all over creation from my shower note pad to my phone (which I should just take in the shower since it has a waterproof case…but I’m still scared to test it out!). My co-dependency is with my critique partners (CPs). In our early writing days, one of my CPs and I drafted together, trading fresh pages every other week and giving edit notes to work on before moving forward. Now that we’re all on the path to being published, we’re a little busier, so the every other week thing doesn’t happen too often. But we all still trade pages with each other before anyone else, and I rely on the thumbs up from my CPs before going further in any project, starting with the beat sheet all the way through to THE END of the first draft. Oh yeah, speaking of process, I am not a pantser. I used to be, until I found Blake Snyder’s beat sheets. Now I’m a total plotter. And I. LOVE. IT.

That’s all from me. Next week you can learn about some other fabulous authors–a fellow Entangled writer whose new book releases TODAY; my close friend and critique partner whose debut releases Friday; and my friend and agent sister whose pretty NA words will be heading your way soon!

hadesReese Monroe is a wife, athlete, and New Adult author. When she’s not writing, she’s training for her next endurance event, which helps manage her addiction to chocolate and Chai lattes. MARKED BY HADES, book two in her Bound by Hades trilogy, releases today with Entangled’s Embrace line.

Lex Martin writes new adult novels, the sexy kind with lotsa ClemFrontangst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she’s not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher. She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, this native Texan has lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.  Her debut novel, Dearest Clementine, releases on April 18.

jen blackwoodJennifer Blackwood is an English teacher and NA author. She lives in Oregon with her husband, son, and poorly behaved black lab puppy. Special announcements about Blackwood’s debut novel coming soon!

MakeItCount3About Make it Count:

The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend’s gorgeous best friend, Alec…who just so happens to be her brand new college math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?

Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends–both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It’s safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm’s reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.

Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She’s adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He’d never stab his best friend in the back…

But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To make it count, Alec must learn messy human emotions can’t be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

About the author:

MEGAN ERICKSON grew up in a family that averages 5’3” on a Headshot3good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.

She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.

Make it Count Excerpt!

Kat gathered her books and stuffed them into her plaid Burberry messenger bag, then headed toward the front doors, smoothie from the library snack shop in hand. Head bent, fiddling with the clasp of her bag, she stumbled into a wall of human on the pavement outside.

“Oh, I’m sorry—” Her voice dropped out when she realized the solid flesh belonged to Alec, Max’s best friend.

She’d only met him once or twice before he’d moved in with Max this semester and every time, he cocked his eyebrow with a half frown like he knew something she didn’t. Which he actually did, since he had brainy superpowers. Smarter than a speeding Einstein. Able to leap over C-minus students like her in a single bound.

She didn’t trust people that smart. And she didn’t trust a guy who didn’t ogle her ass or leer at her boobs like every other member of the straight male species on the planet.

Right now, that raised-eyebrow frown pinned her where she stood. His pale green eyes behind thick black frames roamed over her shoulder to the library and then back to her. With his pin-stripe button-down, dark jeans with Converse shoes and hair styled in a short, messy pompadour, he looked like a nerdy Elvis.

His frown morphed into a smile when he spotted the smoothie in her hand, and she definitely didn’t notice his full lips. “You know, you don’t have to venture into the forbidden zone just to get a smoothie.”

Oooh. The jerk. She glanced around surreptitiously, then leaned in and spoke in a low voice. “Just play it cool. Don’t let it slip someone like me snuck in the library.” She gripped his forearm and whispered. “Password today is rosebud.”

His face blanked and he looked at her like he’d never seen her before. Kat debated whether or not that was an improvement over his other look.

But then those intelligent eyes narrowed and a smirk curled his lips. “I know. We nerds get an e-mail every morning.”

See? He always needed the last word. She propped a hand on her hip and leaned in. “Well, sounds like you have a mole. Might want to look into that.”

He opened his mouth but she cut him off. “Just looking out for you guys. Anyway, see ya around!”

Before he could shoot back a snarky comeback, Kat skirted around him and bounded down the stairs. She chalked that up as Kat 1, Alec 0.

Cover Reveal: Swimming to Tokyo by Brenda St. John Brown

Woohoo!!! I am so excited for this book, and HELLO gorgeous cover!  Swimming to Tokyo releases July 28, 2014!

The rules for swimming are simple:

Rule #1: There is no lifeguard on duty.
Since her mom died three years ago, nineteen-year-old Zosia Easton’s been treading water. Living at home. Community college. Same old Saturday nights. So when her father breaks the news he’s taken a job transfer—and by the way, it means renting out the house that’s been her refuge—a summer in Tokyo feels like it just might be a chance to start swimming again.

Rule #2: Beware of unexpected currents.
Finn O’Leary has spent God knows how many years trying to drown out his past. Juvenile detention. Bad decisions. Worse choices. He’s managed to turn it around – MIT, Dean’s List, a sexier-than-thou body with a smile to match – at least on the surface. When his mom asks him to spend the summer with her, Tokyo seems as good a place as any to float through the summer.

Rule #3: Swim at your own risk.

March may be almost over, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over at Embrace. My debut, If Only, releases TODAY! You can pick up If Only on sale for just $.99 right now! Thank you, everyone, for your amazing support up until today. Let the next phase begin!

About If Only:

Sometimes it takes crossing an ocean to figure out where you belong.

It’s been two years since twenty-year-old Jordan had a boyfriend—which means it’s been forever since she, well, you know. But now she’s off to spend her junior year in Aberdeen, Scotland, the perfect place to stop waiting for Mr. Right and just enjoy Mr.

Sexy, sweet (and possible player) Griffin may be her perfect, no-strings-attached match. He’s fun, gorgeous, and makes her laugh. So why can’t she stop thinking about Noah who, minutes after being trapped together outside the train’s loo, kisses

Jordan like she’s never been kissed before? Never mind his impossible blue eyes, his weathered, annotated copy of The Great Gatsby (total English-major porn)…oh, and his girlfriend.

Jordan knows everything this year has an expiration date. Aberdeen is supposed to be about fun rather than waiting for life to happen. But E. M. Forster, Shakespeare, and mistletoe on Valentine’s Day make her reconsider what love is and how far she’s willing to go for the right guy.

On the eve of release…

Welp, we’re less than 24 hours from release, and I’m trying to figure out how to articulate what I’m feeling. But I’m feeling SO many different emotions at once, so I’ve decided that in honor of my first book release, I shall write my first GIF blog post to try to somehow encapsulate EVERYTHING I’m feeling all at once.

First and foremost, I am EXCITED. I wrote a book, and it’s being published, and everything I’ve always wanted is happening. This is freaking AWESOME.

As much as I want to keep my cool, grooving to the beat of this awesomeness that is happening to me, I’m also a little bit this:

And I’ve slowly been able to get used to this because my galleys went out a month ago, and people have been reading and reacting and it’s so THIS.

Ewan And I’m overwhelmed at how many people have already requested, read, and loved IF ONLY. But on the same token, THIS BOOK I WROTE IS NOT JUST MINE ANYMORE.

sheldonAnd YES, it’s scary. Scary to get what you want but realizing that the thing you want most also comes with putting yourself out there, with making yourself more vulnerable than you’ve ever been, and there’s really no way to prepare for that. All I can say is that I’m grateful for this this amazing, scary, crazy thing that’s happening–grateful for the people who’ve supported me up until this point, to the early readers who’ve helped put IF ONLY on the map, to my amazing publishing team at Entangled for making my debut all I could have hoped for and more, and to YOU, the readers. I am hopeful and anxious, proud and terrified. Because in a few short hours, IF ONLY will be yours, and I’m beyond grateful to you for wanting to share in this experience with me.

And so, in the immortal words of the wickedly talented, Adele Dazeem, I’m gearing up to LET IT GO.

let it goBecause I have a book coming it, and it’s time to CELEBRATE!

I hope you’re ready to one-click tomorrow.
